Male here. My first character, my main, is a female ranger. I liked rangers, and I guess female-option seemed pretty. The only male chars I've created after that are warrior (got deleted around lvl 14, I found warriors boring to play) and a male mesmer (my most recent char, decided to make a male char after a long time). My PvP mesmer is also a male, and PvP ranger is a female.
As someone stated before, I find female characters more aesthetically pleasing than male ones. I also find it more interesting to break out from the classic "man->strong, female->weak"-formula, and make these pretty females some ass-kicking killing machines

Female with all female chars. Hubby also plays mainly female chars.
Doesn't matter a jot to me what gender someone chooses to play, it's all about how they are as a player and how they interact in the team.

I'm female with all female chars.
Even my storage chars are female. I can't stand being male chars in any game.
The male warrior dance still disturbs me. Like when you're standing in town, selling and minding your own business and a male Warrior stands behind you and spams /dance so it looks like he's humping you... Freaky people

Male with all male chars. Keeps people from asking if I'm male or female, since hardly any women have male chars.

So... do you guys not play halo, or zelda, or mario... because you don't want to look at a male character?
I find it kind of amusing that this is the 'reason' that most people use female chars.

Male with 24 character slots, 21 male 3 female. I guess male characters just come naturally to me but every now and then I like to watch a nice ass in a tight outfit, digital as it may be, running instead of the backside of some dude.
I don't play Halo because it's just C&C Commando with slightly better graphics, that's right I said it Halo is an unoriginal, uninspired, generic shooter and isn't that great. I don't play Mario because platforming is lame. It's the 21'st century. We can render 3D environments now. Zelda I don't play because well it's the 21st century, how hard is it to do a cutscene with voice acting instead of text boxes. Who still uses text boxes?

Female here. Until 2 weeks ago I had 14 all female chars. I recently wanted to start a NF ele (my guy wanted to start a baby derv and we like to play together) I decided to try a boy because I wasn't terribly fond of the girl hair etc, plus I have a canthan ele I love and have never tried a male gw char. I really like him, but I do feel kinda bad for the guy...like the only boy sibling with 14 ass kicking older sisters....

I wish people would play the gender they really are. Otherwise it makes me feel like I'm surrounded by a bunch of 13 year old perverts. No offense.

If you're really concentrating more on the game rather than the characters why should it matter what gender the people are who you are playing with?
I have two accounts, my primary is mostly female, my secondary is mostly male. I play female characters because I'd rather look at something I like the looks of. I do not pretend to be a female and if my actual gender is requested I am completely honest with whomever requests it. If some little prick wants to flirt with my character I give them a good reality check.
If anything the perverts in the game are the ones trying to flirt with an anonymous stranger (whether they are playing their gender or not), which you have no idea about gender or AGE for that matter.
It shouldn't matter what gender the characters are or the people are...we're here to play a game not cyber in some online chatroom.
As for games with only male characters...like I said...I'm there to play a game...I don't give a crap what the gender is...but if I have a choice I'll go with something that looks better.

me= male (can you guess by avatar? :P )
I only pick the gender based on the best armor/armor combo I want, same for how they can look. Everyone has to fit the bill and look cool enough. Oh and the dances play a big role too... I can't stand how some of the gender different dances are.
war = male
ranger = male
paragon = male
(i also plan on getting those kick ass horns on the norn armor)
dervish = male
assassin = male
mesmer = male
(should have made female for armor, but i originally wanted a male pirate)
necro = male
ritualist = male
ele = female
monk = female
